The Lemon Tetra is a very easy to care for fish that is tolerant to almost any water parameters found in community aquariums. Like most small tetras, they feel safe in numbers and should be kept in a shoal of 6 or more. They are very peaceful and, providing their tank mates won’t eat them, they can be kept with anything.

Species – Lemon Tetra - Hyphessobrycon Pulchripinnis

Current Size – 2cm - 2.5cm

Adult Length – 4cm

Temperature Range – 21 - 27 °C

pH Range – 6.0 – 7.8

Tanks Mates and Compatibility - Generally peaceful making it an ideal resident of the well-researched community aquarium. It’s perhaps best-maintained alongside similarly-sized characids, gasteropelecids, lebiasinids, callichthyid or loricariid catfishes, and non-predatory cichlids. Try to buy a mixed-sex group of at least 8-10 specimens, include other schooling fishes to provide security, and you’ll be rewarded with a more natural-looking spectacle.

Feeding – In aquaria ia diet of dried foods but like most fishes does best when offered a varied menu which in this case should also contain live and frozen chironomid larvae (bloodworm), mosquito larvae, DaphniaMoina, etc.

Please note – Some images used are library photos and will show the colour potential at a fully mature size, as our fish are juvenilles they may vary.

We always aim to supply the fish as close to the purchase size as possible. However if this is not possible, we will always contact you to discuss.

The fish are selected at random however you are welcome to make a note on the order and the fish manager will do his best for you. This is dependent on current stock at the time of your order.
