Community with caution – Very territorial

The RTB shark is a beautiful fish that is often in a bad mood. They will not tolerate another shark of the same or similar species. They like to stake out their territory and will guard this territory against similar species and often smaller fish of completely unrelated species.  Having said all that, Red finned, fed tailed or rainbow sharks are beautiful and can be a great choice in a boisterous community situation.

Species – Red Tailed Black Shark - Epalzeorhynchos Bicolor

Current Size – 3cm

Adult Length – 15cm

Temperature Range – 24 28°C

pH Range – 6.5 – 7.5

Special Requirements - They are territorial. You should only ever keep one shark of this variety or similar in a tank, unless it is large. Have been known to jump out so a tight fitting lid is recommended.

Tanks Mates and Compatibility – They should be housed with similar sized fish that can tolerate the shark and its moods!

Feeding – They are herbivores and so should be fed a diet that is high in plant and algae matter.

Please note – Some images used are library photos and will show the colour potential at a fully mature size, as our fish are juveniles they may vary.

We always aim to supply the fish as close to the purchase size as possible. On rare occasions if this is not possible we will contact you.

The fish are selected at random however you are welcome to make a note on the order and the fish manager will do his best for you, requests are dependent on stock at the time of your order.

    Review:
Great fish, grows beautifully and quite active.

This is the fish that becomes the boss of the aquarium, I have him with Tiger Barbs and he chases them every 5 minutes.
