The African Butterfly fish is found in many lakes across Africa. It is a surface inhabiting fish and likes a well planted aquarium. It is a predator so do not out it with small community fish as it will see them as food.

Current Size - 5 cm
Adult Length - 12cm
Temperature Range – 22 - 28°C
pH Range – 6.8 – 7.5
Special Requirements - A lid!!! These fish will jump.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – The Butterfly Fish will eat small tetras etc. Some of the larger tetras and barbs can make ideal tank mates.
Feeding – They are carnivores and should be fed a combination of freeze dried, live and frozen food. They can be weaned onto a small floating pellet.

We always aim to supply the fish as close to the purchase size as possible. On rare occasions if this is not possible we will contact you.
The fish are selected at random however you are welcome to make a note on the order and the fish manager will do his best for you, requests are dependent on stock at the time of your order.
