The Swordtail is a livebearer which is hardy to both other tank mates and water parameters. Due to selective breading, they are now available in a number of varieties of differing and stunning colours and shapes. The males are easily determined due to their signature Sword along the base of the caudal fin (tail).

Temperature Range – 22 - 28°C

pH Range – 6.5 – 8.0

Special Requirements - Can fight if too many males are kept together.

Tanks Mates and Compatibility – In confined spaces groups of males tend to form dominance hierarchies and may invest a significant proportion of time maintaining their respective positions.

Feeding – In the aquarium it is unfussy and will accept just about anything offered. Offer a balanced diet comprising good quality dried products along with small live and frozen foods such as DaphniaArtemia and chironomid larvae (bloodworm).

    Fish arrived this morning, earlier than expected. Well packaged and handled with care. Lovely healthy fish - stunning male, already settled into my aquarium. Will definitely be ordering from Tropco again!!!
