The Moonlight Gourami is a hardy and placid aquarium fish that is ideal for beginners and gourami communities. It can be slightly timid when it is new to a tank but, once settled, it can be more active than most Gouramis. They will thrive in a wide range of water chemistry but do require plenty of vegetation and hiding spots.

Species – Moonlight Gourami - Trichogaster Microlepis

Current Size – 5cm - 6cm

Adult Length –  15cm

Temperature Range – 24 - 30°C

pH Range – 6.0 – 7.8

Special Requirements - A fairly easy going fish. They do require access to the surface so that they can breathe atmospheric air.

Tanks Mates and Compatibility – Do not keep with fish so small as to be seen as food, or that are too vigorous for these skittish fish. Ideal tankmates include other Trichogaster, Colisa, Botia, Corydoras, Barbs, Angelfish and loricariids. Males may become territorial with other males and gouramis.

Feeding – It accepts most foods offered in the aquarium, and a good quality dried food is acceptable as the staple diet. Supplement this with regular meals of small live and frozen foods such as bloodworm for the fish to develop the best health and colouration.

Please note – Some images used are library photos and will show the colour potential at a fully mature size, as our fish are juveniles they may vary.

We always aim to supply the fish as close to the purchase size as possible. On rare occasions if this is not possible we will contact you.

The fish are selected at random however you are welcome to make a note on the order and the fish manager will do his best for you, requests are dependent on stock at the time of your order.
