What is Carbon Clear?

Basically, it's carbon granules of the highest grade inside a fine filter bag that looks like a posh teabag!  It has a really high surface area, and as water flows through it, chemical compounds 'stick' to the activated carbon and are removed from the water.  If you're familiar with carbon products, think of this one as 'carbon on steroids' - it works quicker and lasts 3x longer than normal carbon!

What does it remove?

It catches and removes toxins, medications, tannins, dyes and heavy metals from your aquarium water.  It can be used to create crystal clear water and remove odours.

 

How do you use it?!

It comes as 3 'teabags' or 'pods' and the best way to use it is to put one flat in your filter where water can flow through it.  

 

Use one Carbon Clear pod for 200 litres of aquarium water.  If you have a larger tank, use 2 pods for 200-400 litres and 3 pods for 400-600 litres.

 

How long does it last?

This is a tricky one!  The instructions say it lasts up to 12 weeks, but  if your aquarium water was abnormally full of medication/dyes then it won't last as long. Monitor your water and if you notice a deterioration in clarity then it's fine to replace the pod ahead of schedule.
