The Golden Fire Eel is a stunning and uncommon colour variant of the popular Fire Eel, prized for its vibrant golden-yellow body, contrasting dark markings, and graceful, eel-like movement. Its striking appearance and curious personality make it a true centrepiece for large freshwater aquariums.
Known for being intelligent and interactive, Golden Fire Eels often recognise their owners and can become surprisingly tame over time. They spend much of the day exploring the substrate and hiding amongst driftwood, rocks, and plants, emerging to feed or investigate their surroundings. A soft sandy substrate is highly recommended, as these fish enjoy burrowing and can damage themselves on sharp gravel.
As carnivores, Golden Fire Eels thrive on a varied diet of earthworms, bloodworms, prawns, mussels, and other meaty frozen foods, although many will also accept high-quality sinking pellets once established. They are generally peaceful towards similarly sized tank mates but should not be housed with small fish that may be viewed as prey.

pH Range – 6.0 – 7.5
Special Requirements - Prefer slightly hard water.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – This eel will eat small tetras etc. Some of the larger tetras and barbs can make ideal tank mates.
Feeding – They are carnivores and should be fed a combination of worms and frozen food. They can often be fed a quality sinking pellet.
