Mormyrus longirostris
Mormyrus longirostris, also known as the bottle-nosed mormyrid, is a fascinating electric fish suited for experienced aquarists. It requires a spacious aquarium with soft substrate, dim lighting, and plenty of hiding spots. This nocturnal species uses electric fields to navigate and prefers peaceful tankmates. It feeds on live or frozen foods like worms and insect larvae. Sensitive to water quality, it thrives in well-maintained, low-stress environments with stable temperature and pH levels.

pH Range – 6.2 – 7.2
Special Requirements - They require a deeep and fine substrate as they like to burrow. Subdued lighting and well planted. Nitrate levels need to be kept low.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – They are semi-aggresive and should be kept with similarly sized tank mates. Keep in large groups to avoid aggressive and terratorial behaviour.
Feeding – Feed on invertebrates in the wild but will readily take frozen foods, small pellets or flake that is on the bottom.

The fish are selected at random however you are welcome to make a note on the order and the fish manager will do his best for you, requests are dependent on stock at the time of your order.
