Species – Green Scat - Scatophagus argus

The Green Scat (Scatophagus argus) is a unique and fascinating fish species native to the coastal and brackish waters of Southeast Asia, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region. The Green Scat requires an aquarium of at least 125 gallons with plenty of plants and hiding places. They do best in brackish water with 3-4 teaspoons of salt per 2-1/2 gallons of water. It is important to choose live plants that thrive in brackish water.Can live up to 8-12 years with proper care. 
Green Scats have venomous dorsal and ventral fins, which can cause pain and dizziness if stung.

Temperature Range – 24 - 28°C

pH Range – 7.5 - 8.2

Special Requirements - Brackish water. 

Tanks Mates and Compatibility – - Generally peaceful, but can be territorial and aggressive at times. Best kept with peaceful, brackish water species, such as larger tetras, barbs, and rainbowfish

Feeding – Omnivorous, feeding on algae, detritus, small invertebrates, and plant matter. Feed on a variety of foods, including algae, vegetables, and meaty foods
