L097 Polka Dot Cactus Pleco
Pseudacanthicus sp.
The L097 is commonly known as the Polka Dot Cactus Pleco for obvious reasons. Firstly this fish is covered in very, very sharp spikes across the whole body making it extremely hard to handle! Secondly, it has some incredible markings. The white spots are bright and vibrant. These wild caught fish are from Rio Tapajos and therefore we advise creating a natural looking set up for them, plenty of large rocks from them to hide between with a good amount of flow from a large external filter or wave maker. They can be aggresive towards one another so making sure they have plenty of room to move is important.
These fish are scavengers and feeding predominantly on a carnivious based diet.
Current Size – 12-15 cm
Adult Length – 18-20cm
Temperature Range – 28 - 31°C
pH Range – 5.5 – 7.5
Special Requirements - Plenty of hiding spaces along with a moderately heavy flow into the tank.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – Can be territorial, this species can be unfriendly towards its own kind and similar looking fish. Bottom dwellers of different color and pattern are usually left alone, although things may beaten up during feeding time. Gets on with small lively catfish but avoid too many other larger bottom dwellers (unless space permits) due to the territorial disputes. They are also aggressive against other catfish with similar coloration.

Please note – Some images used are library photos and will show the colour potential at a fully mature size, as our fish are juveniles they may vary.
