Native to Peru’s Rio Ucayali basin, it thrives in well-oxygenated aquariums with driftwood for grazing and hiding. This species primarily feeds on wood and plant matter, requiring a diet rich in fiber. Reaching about 12-15cm, it’s a peaceful choice for community tanks but needs clean, well-maintained water conditions.

Tanks Mates and Compatibility – They are a good community fish as they are peaceful.
Feeding – They should be fed a variety of algae wafers, spirulina based flake and also vegetable matter like cucumber and lettuce. They will also eat almost every other food offered and dead fish, given the opportunity.
