Ancistrus Damasceni

 

Ancistrus damasceni is a small freshwater catfish native to Brazil’s São Francisco River basin. Belonging to the Loricariidae family, it's known for its armored body and sucker mouth, which it uses to graze on algae. Males develop bristle-like tentacles on their heads, aiding in mate attraction. Peaceful and hardy, they are popular in aquariums for algae control.

Adult Length – 6.5cm

Temperature Range – 22 - 27°C

pH Range – 6.0 - 7.2

Tanks Mates and Compatibility – They are a good community fish as they are peaceful.

Feeding – They should be fed a variety of algae wafers, spirulina based flake and also vegetable matter like cucumber and lettuce. They will also eat almost every other food offered and dead fish, given the opportunity.
