This is one of the more unusual fish that we have ever stocked. It is found thorughout the Amazon basin. In it's native habitat it likes to burrow through fine sand and silt. As with the majority of Knifefish, this fish uses a mild electric current to both communicate and also sense its surroundings. It swims forwards and backwards equally as easily. Although thought to be shy, these are actually quite active little fish. They much prefer darker systems.
Make sure that these guys are well fed. Live food is greatly accepted by them.

Special Requirements - They require a deeep and fine substrate as they like to burrow. Subdued lighting and well planted. Nitrate levels need to be kept low.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – They are a very gently Knifefish and will be peaceful towards other tank mates.
Feeding – Feed on invertebrates in the wild but will readily take frozen foods, small pellets or flake that is on the bottom.

The fish are selected at random however you are welcome to make a note on the order and the fish manager will do his best for you, requests are dependent on stock at the time of your order.
