The true parrot cichlid is not to be confused with the modern hybrid parrot cichlids. This South American cichlid is found in blackwater areas of Brazil, Colombia and Venezuala. The true parrot is a large cichlid that is generally peaceful to its own type but aggressive to others and should only be kept with other equally aggressive and large tank mates.
Providing the water parameters are kept in check, these cichlids are easy to keep and will grow quickly. They are stunning as adults.

Temperature Range 22 - 27°C
pH Range: 5.5 to 7.0
Special Requirements: Fairly easy to keep.
Tanks Mates: They are territorial and will eat smaller fish or invertebrates that they can swallow. The can be kept with other fish of the same temperement, ideally larger so they won't be a bully.
Feeding: . The True Parrot is omnivorous and will eat most prepared and frozen foods, including freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, and ocean plankton, as well as flake food and Cichlid pellets.
