Jade Eyed Cichlid
Cryptoheros spilurus
A small, hardy freshwater fish native to Central America. It features a compact body with striking green eyes, shimmering scales, and a subtle pattern of vertical stripes. Males are typically more colourful, displaying hints of red and blue, especially during breeding. This species is known for its territorial behaviour, particularly during spawning, but it can coexist with other fish in spacious tanks.

Special Requirements - As with other similar cichlids, this fish should be kept in a tank of 100L minimum. They require good water quality and a varied quality diet. They prefer a strong water movement in the tank.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility - A good Cichlid community fish and can be kept with other American cichlids of similar size and nature. They do become territorial during spawning and will excavate and uproot plants at this time.
Feeding - It is an omnivore and will eat almost everything that it is offered. Live or Frozen food should be given regularly along with flakes and pellets.
