This little gourami (in it’s different colour forms) is very closely related to the Dwarf Gourami, although it is generally a little smaller. A member of the Anabantoids, with the ability to breath atmospheric oxygen as well as dissolved oxygen.
This little Gourami is fairly durable and has long been recommended as a good choice for community tanks and beginners. It is excellent for the smaller aquarium as it is peaceful with everybody and almost shy. As long as the aquarium is properly set-up and maintained, this fish will thrive.

Special Requirements - They are relatively easy to keep and are very hardy once settled.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – One of the best gouramis to keep in a community tank, and is actually much more suitable than the popular dwarf gourami, C. lalia. If you buy a group of these as youngsters they will usually live together quite peacefully for life. Other suitable tankmates include danios, rasboras, smaller barbs and loaches. It will also do well with other peaceful anabantoids.

Feeding – Undemanding. It will accept the vast majority of foods offered, but is particularly fond of small live and frozen varieties such as bloodworm, daphnia etc.
