The Melon Barb is a peaceful school fish that should be kept in groups. Generally, very peaceful making it an ideal resident of the well-researched community aquarium, but may outcompete slower-moving or more timid fishes as it’s a somewhat vigorous feeder.

Special Requirements - This is a schooling barb and should be kept in groups of 6 or more. They can be shy, especially if the aquarium is too light and open.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – Since it places no special demands in terms of water chemistry it can be combined with many of the most popular fish in the hobby though, including other small cyprinids as well as tetras, livebearers, rainbowfishes, certain anabantoids, catfishes, and loaches.

Feeding – They are an omnivores and should be fed a good quality varied died that includes crushed flake and live or frozen food. They should also be offered spinach or green flake occasionally.
