The Black Ruby Barb is a peaceful school fish that should be kept in groups. When content in a stable environment they display magnificent colouration. They prefer a darker aquarium with subdued lighting or shady areas. They are sensitive to poor water quality or changes in water chemistry.

Temperature Range – 20 - 26°C
pH Range – 5.5 – 7.5
Special Requirements - This is a schooling barb and should be kept in groups of 6 or more. They can be shy, especially if the aquarium is too light and open.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – The black ruby barb makes a good tank mate for established community environments. They will nip at long-finned fish occasionally.

Ideal Number to Keep – They should be kept in a shoal of 6 or more.
Feeding – They are an omnivores and should be fed a good quality varied died that includes crushed flake and live or frozen food. They should also be offered spinach or green flake occasionally.
