Community – especially when young!
The temperament and activity of this loach changes with age. When it is young, it is an excellent algae eater and community fish. As it ages, it can become more territorial and boisterous, especially to weaker and smaller tank mates. It is robust and hardy and, when the tank mates are chosen carefully, can be a great community fish. They have been known to try to suck the mucous from the sides of slower deep bodied fish such as Gouramies.
