Checkerboard Cichlid
Dicrossus Maculatus
The Checkerboard is a beautiful, shy cichlid that likes to inhabit the bottom of the aquarium amongst plants and moss. It needs a well planted tank and is a peaceful small cichlid.
They like a densely planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places.

Adult Length – 9cm Males 7cm Females
Temperature Range – 26 – 30°C
pH Range – 5.0 – 7.0
Special Requirements - They prefer a soft, slightly acidic environment.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility - These little cichlids are timid fish and tank mates should be chosen to compliment this. As with most cichlids, they can become territorial during breeding. They can be kept with other dwarf cichlids.
Feeding - The Checkerboards are primarily carnivores and feed mostly on invertebrates in the wild. They are happy with most quality dry food but should be fed live or frozen food regularly.
