The Lyretail panaque is a well known fish that is hardy, peaceful and excellent at eating algae but also eat wood. It is important to note that it will outgrow most aquariums, growing to over 12”, regardless of tank size. In a large tank (150cm+) it can be an excellent tank mate for almost any other fish, including large barbs and cichlids. Its armour plating make it pretty much impervious to any hostility and their hardy constitution makes them suitable for most water parameters.

There are other, more suitable plecs for the smaller tank.

Temperature Range 20-29°C

pH Range: 5.5-7.5

Special Requirements:  They grow large!

Tanks Mates:  They are a good community fish as they are peaceful..

Feeding:  They should be fed a variety of algae wafers, spirulina based flake and also vegetable matter like cucumber and lettuce. Wood should also be available.
