The Dwarf Banded Cichlid are an attractive species that are relatively peaceful, providing they have an area that they can call home. As with all Dwarf Cichlids, they prefer a slightly acidic and soft water and the banded cichlid can struggle if it is introduced to a new aquarium. It prefers a stable and mature environment. The males are slightly larger and more colourful than the females

Current Size – 4cm
Adult Length – 7cm (females slightly smaller)
Temperature Range – 23 – 28°C
pH Range – 5.5 – 6.5
Special Requirements - Floating cover and natural decor is prefered, and regular water changes every week are essential.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility - Other types of Apistogramma should be avoided. They are best housed alone

Feeding - The are carnivorous and should be regularly given live food like bloodworm, Daphina and Brine shrimp. They will also accept a dried alternative.
