The Halfbeak is a relatively peaceful shoaling fish and should be kept in groups. They also prefer a heavily planted tank with plenty of hiding spaces.
They are also live bearers and typically give birth to around 20 fry at a time.

Temperature Range – 20 - 24°C
pH Range – 6.0 – 8.0
Special Requirements - They are particuarly sensitve to water so it is important that the ph levels are kept within the correct range, ideally around 6.5.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – Other small and peaceful species with a similar temperament.
Feeding – Carnivores, they will eat virtually anything that they can get in their mouths. They love shrimps but will take any quality pellet.
