The BlackLine Tetra is a very smart looking larger tetra from Brazil. It is an active shoaler and should be kept in a group to prevent fin nipping. It likes a well planted tank with shady areas and plenty of swimming space.

Special Requirements - It is best to provide your Tetra with a mixed environment with some open swimming space and some plant cover. It is sensitive to high nitrate so a good water quality is a must.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – The black line tetra is best kept in a shoal as they can become fin nippy if kept in small numbers. It is fine in most community tank situations but is not safe for Shrimps etc.
Ideal Number to Keep – Mid-level feeders, they are best kept in schools of six or more, for the shoaling effect when they move around the tank. They shoal naturally in the wild and are thus more brightly coloured and more active when kept as a shoal as opposed to singly.
Feeding – A most unfussy, omnivorous species. Flakes and granules, along with regular feedings of small live and frozen foods such as Daphnia and bloodworm are recommended.
