Convict Julie
Julidochromis regani
The convict julie, Julidochromis regani, is a species of cichlid fish endemic to Lake Tanganyika in Africa. They are found in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, and Zambia. Convict julies have a sleek, torpedo-shaped body with a distinctive checkered pattern of white and golden markings. They are relatively low-maintenance fish that can adapt to various water parameters and are often kept in community cichlid aquariums.

Special Requirements - All African Cichlids are territorial. They need space and a plenty of hiding spaces. These little shell dwellers need plenty of shells to call home.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – They are a schooling fish that pair off only to breed, so are actually best kept in a group. They are generally peaceful and non-aggressive with their own kind. They also show minimal agression to other fish.
Feeding – For optimal health, feed this omnivorous fish cichlid pellets, flake foods, and frozen foods, such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and Cyclops.
