Peacock Snakehead

Channa Pulchra

Community with caution.

The Snakehead is a natural predator so is not a community fish and should be kept with other fish that are too big to be considered food. We like to feed shrimp, earthworms etc. We do also use as much pellet as possible.
Do your research before you buy!

Species – Channa Pulchra

Current Size – 7-10cm

Adult Length – 30cm

Temperature Range – 22 - 28°C

pH Range – 6.0 - 7.5

Special Requirements - A large tank with plenty of space.

Tanks Mates and Compatibility – C. pleurophthalma is among the few snakeheads known to form aggregations throughout its lifetime, but is still best-maintained in a species-specific aquarium.

Feeding – Some specimens accept dried foods though these should never form the staple diet. Young fish can be offered chironomid larvae (bloodworm), small earthworms, chopped prawn and suchlike, while adults will accept strips of fish flesh, whole prawns/shrimp, mussels, etc.

Please note – Some images used are library photos and will show the colour potential at a fully mature size, as our fish are juveniles they may vary.

We always aim to supply the fish as close to the purchase size as possible. On rare occasions if this is not possible we will contact you.

The fish are selected at random however you are welcome to make a note on the order and the fish manager will do his best for you, requests are dependent on stock at the time of your order.
