Blue Diamond Congo Tetra
Alestopetersius Smykalai
The Congo Tetra grows larger than most tetras but is still peaceful and fairly tolerant of boisterous tank mates. They are fairly easy to care for although they can be a bit partial to some aquarium plants. They can be sensitive to water fluctuations so should only be added to an aquarium once it is fully established and mature.
Current Size – 3cm - 4cm
Adult Length – 7cm
Temperature Range – 24 - 27 °C
pH Range – 6.0 – 7.5
Tanks Mates and Compatibility - Lively and somewhat skittish but generally peaceful making it an ideal resident of the well-researched, larger community aquarium.
Fishes inhabiting similar environments in nature, especially comparably-sized cyprinids and other alestids perhaps constitute the best choices but other options include many cichlids, catfishes, loaches, etc.

Feeding – In the aquarium it’s easily-fed but the best condition and colours offer regular meals of small live and frozen foods such as bloodworm, Daphnia, and Artemia alongside good quality dried flakes and granules, at least some of which should include additional plant or algal content.
Please note – Some images used are library photos and will show the colour potential at a fully mature size, as our fish are juvenilles they may vary.
We always aim to supply the fish as close to the purchase size as possible. However if this is not possible, we will always contact you to discuss.
The fish are selected at random however you are welcome to make a note on the order and the fish manager will do his best for you. This is dependent on current stock at the time of your order.
