Cosby Strain Gourami
Trichogaster Trichopterus
The Cosby strain gourami is a selectively bred variant of the three-spot gourami (Trichopodus trichopterus). It features a striking marbled blue pattern. Like other gouramis, it is a hardy, labyrinth fish capable of breathing atmospheric oxygen. This peaceful yet territorial species thrives in well-planted aquariums with calm tankmates.
Current Size – 5cm
Adult Length – 15cm
Temperature Range – 24 - 30°C
pH Range – 6.0 – 8.0
Special Requirements - A fairly easy going fish. They do require access to the surface so that they can breathe atmospheric air.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – While often recommended as a community fish this is not always so. Some individuals can become very spiteful as they mature, while others remain peaceful. Males are territorial and will squabble amongst themselves, becoming very aggressive when breeding. It is best kept with robust fish such as barbs, larger characins, loricariids, loaches and other medium/large gouramis.

Feeding – It accepts most foods offered in the aquarium, and a good quality dried food is acceptable as the staple diet. Supplement this with regular meals of small live and frozen foods such as bloodworm for the fish to develop the best health and colouration.
Please note – Some images used are library photos and will show the colour potential at a fully mature size, as our fish are juveniles they may vary.
